Missoni X Adidas Collection

Two Brands Sharing Their Love of Sport. It started in 1948, where Ottavio Missoni was competing in the Olympic Games in London, where he met his wife and fell in love with the passion of Sport and Design. A similar story shapes Adi Dassler’s love of both sport and design. This collaboration celebrates both brands coming together through the passion of sport, design and innovation.

Behind the Scenes

The project itself took 2 years in the making. The relationships built with the Missoni family and their designers was one of trust, passion and respect. From visiting the Missoni Mansion in Varese, to connecting with the team at their fashion shows, this was the best way to build not only a collection, but trust and excitement in design.

I was invited to the Missoni shows whilst we were collaborating. This not only built a closer bond for me with the Brand, but also showed their sense of expression and story telling through their collections.

This is one of Missoni’s most infamous knit executions called “The Flame”. This is expertly created on a yarn level and then knitted to create this incredible graphic. Each knit is purely individual, giving a truly personal graphic for each garment.

Joining Missoni for their Fashion Week Shows was an incredible way to understand how consumers can experience their collections. It opened my eyes to defining how we talk about the collaboration.

While visiting the House Of Missoni, we came across these images of Ottavio Missoni, the founder, competing in the London Olympic Games in 1948.

Working closely with the designers of Missoni to build conversations and share ideas around the project.

“In a time of uncertainty there is a bond that can keep us strong and safe, that unites those that respect all human rights. Let’s show the world that fashion is fearless” - Angela Missoni.

Images from the SS20 Show I attended at Milan Fashion Week. All models were dressed in “Pussy hats” as a way to show their support towards equal rights and the “Me Too” movement.

Sharing both material and colour inspiration across the collection and defining which styles we both wanted to work with.

Creating colour cards with our options of shades in the palette.
